Hironori Ohtsuka

Hironori Ohtsuka, born in Shimodate City, Ibaragi, Japan is the founder of Wado Ryu karate. After training in a number of different martial arts and styles of karate, he registered his own style of karate, Wado Ryu.

Receiving high awards within Japan for his contributions to karate, Ohtsuka believed that the true path of martial arts is through peace. Wado Ryu teaches to protect and defend, but never to attack. 

​Hironori Ohtsuka died on January 29, 1982. He will be remembered for his immense contributions to martial arts.

Spencer Douglas

I have trained in Wado Ryu for over 8 years under different senseis, including Jerry Odom and Ger Browne. I have been teaching karate classes for three years. I hold the rank of Nidan (2nd degree).

I am devoted to teaching my students all I know while continuing my own training and education in Wado Ryu karate.

Ger Browne

Sensei Ger Browne holds the rank of Sandan in Wado Ryu karate. He studied Judo as a young teenager and later studied Wado Ryu under Sensei Iwasaki in Ireland and Jerry Odom in the USA.

​Ger has been teaching karate for many years and founded the National Academy of Wado Ryu Karate in order to pursue his passion of passing on the knowledge he has gained to others.
